| Winnipeg was the primary destination for most Ukrainians who immigrated to Canada during the first half of the twentieth century. Immigrant families who subsequently took out homesteads in rural Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, as well as single migrant labourers who came to work in mining, lumbering or on railway construction, all traveled to Winnipeg before dispersing to their ultimate destinations. | ||||
